Project Runway Season 6 Episode 4: Eye-Catching Look
Can the designers make an outfit, and make their clients, the models, happy to move on to the next challenge?
A quite workroom on Project Runway as the remaining 13 designers starts to feel the pinch of competition. The challenge for this episode was the designers had to work for their models and needed to make an outfit for a special model industry event. So how do you make models happy went they want a garment that is simple, classic, not over the top but stands out. Sigh. I’m glad I’m not a designer. All that was heard in the workroom from the models was “I like my back” and “I want to show off my curves.” Epperson’s model was even a little more contradicting when she wanted some simple, eloquent, punk, and animalistic design in orange. Really? This is why I don’t stay up for the Project Runway spin off model show. That and I have work in the morning. Epperson didn’t find a good orange (surprised?) and settled on brown. He made a call and a cry to the family. It seemed like the production company fix it. Tim visits and while most of the designers have the right idea Tim tells Qristyl her dress looks messy as if someone just got up out of bed. I thought I heard him say, before he walked away, fix it because there was very little time? Qristyl scrapes that dress.
But the runway comes and most designers work till the very last second. All 13 designers and models show cage their look. Now the models cannot completely blame their makers. Epperson’s fitted shred pieces patch dress was a love or hate item and the judges loved it. He did play with a romantic, punk, animalistic dress and it actually came out very sexy. It was unique and different. The only design flaw was the women judge thought the upper area might have been too small. Carol Hannah dress was beautiful with a deep purple top and patterned dark skirt. It had a combination of hard, edgy, and soft. It was tight and moved well. I did want to rip off the fan hanging from the back of the skirt. Althea was the winner of this challenge. Her suit with short puff skirt and smoking jacket had judges who hated dress suits wanting it. The designers this year seem to take judgment very well. Even thanking the judges for their harsh remarks. Dare I say, to polite? But in every event there has to be someone voted off. Johnny has to be careful not to make another messy “bridesmaid” dress. The showdown between bad garments was Logan, for his prom dress, and Qristyl for her boring black dress. Logan gets to stay, possibly for his silver pants and matching shoes. Qristyl’s outfit made her model look 15 years older which is like dog yearsfor models. (Love you Heidi.) Didn’t seem to matter Qristyl’s model liked the dress. One of the judges told her that’s why models are not the designers. Harsh! But there was no risk and the simple black dress looked cheap. Qristyl is out.
