Skinny jeans, sometimes called cigarette pants, are probably most often associated with women but it is not at all uncommon to see them worn by men. Jay Z once said that he doesn’t wear skinny fit jeans because his “nuts” won’t fit in them. That sure is a compelling argument for not wearing skinny jeans! The reality however is that most of us won’t have too many problems squeezing our package into a pair of skinny jeans. If you’re into the look then who cares about machismo and silly anxieties over the style’s perceived lack of masculinity.

Most skinny jeans designed for men are actually intentionally made to be a little looser in the crotch area. This will give you the extra space you need to roam comfortably. They won’ make you sterile if you find the right fit! The key to finding the right fit is to try on as many pairs as possible before you find one that feels just right. Some might even call you brave for rocking the skinny jean look. A guy in tight fitting jeans with the right attitude can really say to onlookers “I don’t give a crap!”. As a matter of fact portions of the skater culture have taken to skinny fit jeans for this very reason. To wear skinny jeans is now considered “hesh”. In the skating world “hesh” usually describes someone who doesn’t care one way or another how they look. If you want to pursue this particular hesh style than look no further than a pair of really tight jeans, a dirty shirt two sizes too small, and a pair of tattered Chuck Taylor’s.

Speaking of Chuck Taylor’s it is important to mention that one of the biggest positives about tight fit jeans is that they look good with both high top and low top sneakers. One could also match up a pair of simple skinny fit jeans with a pair of neat leather boots. I wouldn’t recommend tucking your jeans into your boots however. The boot tuck is probably best left to the women.

When considering trying the skinny jean look it is important for guys to remember that they should wear what makes them feel good and not what others tell them to. If you like the skinny look, do not hesitate. Go for it and don’t look back. As long as you find the right fit and accessorize properly you are on your way to looking dapper.
