Celebrities: Olivia Munn
Why Is She Famous?
Olivia Munn was just another struggling actress/television personality when she successfully landed a cohosting gig on G4’s ever-popular Attack of the Show in 2006. Olivia has since become one of the most in-demand figures in the network’s history. In addition to her various G4 duties — including a daily podcast called Around the Net — Olivia Munn continues to pursue acting roles in her off-hours, including a recurring role on the TV series, Beyond the Break and a role opposite Rob Schneider in Big Stan (2007).
Sexiness
Where do we start? Olivia Munn oozes sensuality, and although she’d surely be a perfect fit within the modeling world, she’s managed to bring an unprecedented amount of raw sexuality to basic cable. And she has appeared within the pages of countless magazines wearing exceedingly little. Olivia Munn was even featured in Playboy as a Babe of the Month, a title that’s been bestowed on such infamous hotties as Christina Aguilera, Katie Holmes and Ali Landry.
Success
When Attack of the Show cohost Sarah Lane announced she was leaving the program, Olivia Munn found that she had dozens of talented competitors who also wanted the gig. She handily won the spot, however, and went on host G4’s Formula D program as well. Olivia’s success as a model is also worth noting, as she has appeared in advertisements for such notable companies as Neutrogena, Pepsi and Nike.
Olivia Munn is also an aspiring actress, having appeared in such forgettable B movies as Scarecrow Gone Wild (2004) and The Road to Canyon Lake (2005). In 2007, she took on a more mainstream role as Maria in Rob Schneider’s directorial debut Big Stan.
Biography
Olivia Munn was born on July 2, 1982, in Oklahoma. Her parents divorced while she was still a toddler, and Olivia was soon forced to adopt a nomadic existence after her mother married a man in the Air Force. Although the clan moved from base to base, Olivia spent the majority of her adolescence in the Shinjuku district of Tokyo, Japan. Olivia’s passion for the entertainment world has been in place virtually since childhood, and the would-be performer took her first steps toward a career in the spotlight by appearing in a number of local theater productions.
Olivia Munn’s growing confidence was cemented once she hit puberty, as the young girl soon found herself blessed with the sort of looks that cause men to stop and stare. She parlayed her beauty into a burgeoning career as a model within the Japanese fashion industry, though it became increasingly clear to Olivia that she wanted to do more with her life than just pose for the cameras. To that end, Olivia moved to Los Angeles in 2004, and began to look for work within the entertainment industry.

Olivia Munn had only been in La La Land for a short while when she landed an internship at FOX Sports, and — after impressing her bosses with her drive and passion for on-camera work — it wasn’t long before Olivia landed a job as a sideline sports reporter. Olivia also remained a fixture on the auditioning circuit, though she didn’t make a whole lot of progress in terms of finding substantial roles. However, Olivia Munn did make her film debut in 2004 as “Girl No. 1” in the straight-to-video horror flick Scarecrow Gone Wild, which she followed up a year later with The Road to Canyon Lake.

Following her internship at FOX Sports, Olivia Munn seamlessly segued into a gig as the host of G4’s Attack of the Show program (her predecessors, Sarah Lane and Brendan Moran, left the show to get married). She made her debut in April 2006, to mostly positive reviews, though some fans cynically assumed that she had been hired just for her looks. Olivia quickly won over her detractors, however, with her quick wit and self-deprecating attitude, and — along with her Attack of the Show cohost, Kevin Pereira — she has been a fixture on the G4 website thanks to her daily appearances on the Around the Net podcast.
Along with her success in the tech world, Olivia Munn also scored big with the beach bums with her recurring role on the TV series, Beyond the Break. Playing one of the title characters best friends, Olivia sported her two piece with the best of them and showed the world, once again, that she was more than just a pretty face thanks to her acting abilities.

Olivia Munn’s passion for performance hasn’t been silenced, either. She remains an active presence on the auditioning circuit, and her hard work has certainly paid off with her key role in the 2007 comedy Big Stan (alongside Rob Schneider, Jennifer Morrison and Melanie Lynskey).
olivia munn is named no. 83 in 2008 top 99 and no. 62 in 2009 top 99
Thanks to her success on FOX Sports and on G4 television, not to mention her move to the big screen, Olivia Munn placed at No. 83 on AskMen.com’s Top 99 list. And we weren’t the only ones to notice; Olivia appeared in the July/August issue of Men’s Health and in September 2007, she ranked in the “Hot Young Hollywood” special issue of Italian Vanity Fair.
After a role in the Rob Schneider flick Big Stan, her first time on the big screen, Olivia Munn worked on the 2008 thriller Insanitarium as well as the ’08 films The Slammin’ Salmon and the comedy Freeloaders. She also ranked No. 62 in AskMen.com’s Top 99 of 2009.
